In today’s fast-paced MOM world, finding time for a complicated skincare routine can be challenging. However, taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be a time-consuming or overwhelming task. In this blog post, I will guide you through my favorite super simple skincare routine that will help you maintain healthy, glowing skin without a lot of effort. Let’s dive in!
As a licensed cosmetologist, with over 17 years of experience in the industry, skincare has become my passion. I grew to love working with skin even more than hairstyling! After working in several high-end salons, I have had the opportunity to test and try numerous different skincare lines. For the longest time my top skincare lines to use were:
- Repechage
- Aveda
- Rhonda Allison
Then, one day, about 11 years ago, my bestie, who just so happens to be a Master Esthetician introduced me to this phenomenal skincare line. Believe me when I say, the products are absolutely life changing! I wish you could feel through the picture just how luxurious these incredible products feel on your skin. They feel like heaven on earth.
I must admit that I was a little skeptical to try them at first. As I mentioned before, working in high-end salons and spas for years certainly had me accustomed to only using professional grade products. Products that could only be purchased through suppliers who only sell to licensed cosmetologists and estheticians.
Then my friend shared a little secret with me. This skincare line is actually, in fact, professional grade, it’s just not marketed that way! I was blown away. I didn’t believe her at first, and tossed the sample size products that she gave me in my bathroom drawer and never gave them a second thought. I’m embarrassed to say that it essentially took her tricking me into trying them before I would become a believer.
As many salon and spa professionals do, we exchanged services for friends and coworkers. For example, I would give her a free haircut and she would give me a free facial. Eventually it was my turn to meet her at the spa and receive the ultimate facial – complete with steam, warm towels, exfoliation, extractions, clay mask, LED light treatment, and of course face, hand and arm massage – the works! When my dreamy treatment ended, she asked me one simple question: “how does your skin feel?”
I literally could not stop touching my face. My skin had never felt so smooth. Not to mention, my face was glowing! My skin was dewy and tight. It felt like years (and tiny creases and wrinkles) had been magically erased from my skin. And my pores had shrunk in size and were unnoticeable. I wish I could describe how fantastic my skin felt! I could not stop raving about it. My friend simply smiled and asked, “do you want to know what I used on it?”
“Oh YES!” I emphatically exclaimed! What is it? I have to know!
When she told me Arbonne, my jaw fell to the floor! I simply could not believe that these were the products she had so adamantly tried to get me to sample for so long. It was simply love at first try for me!

The rest is history. These products are the ONLY products I have let touch my skin over the last 10 years.
Needless to say, I got my mom hooked on these products, as well as my sister, my clients, and any friend or person off the street who would listen to me!
All kidding aside, while I am a “product snob,” I want my readers to know that I only recommend products that I personally LOVE and USE! So, believe me when I say these products are absolutely epic; what I consider to be the Holy Grail of skincare!
Before we jump into my super simple skincare routine for moms, I’d like to share some basic knowledge with you as it relates to your skin, the aging process (what causes it, and how to avoid it), what is typically hiding in our everyday beauty products, and what to look for in premium skincare products.
Let’s begin with the AGING Process. Here is what we know:
- Collagen and elastin slow down 65% between ages 20 – 80 yrs. old
- As skin cells age, they become sluggish and less efficient in the production of collagen – -this is why using a vegan collagen builder (formulated without animal by-products, which can be riddled with hormones and antibiotics) is so important. The one I use and recommend contains hyaluronic Acid, that helps maintain moisture!
- The skin loses its ability to hold moisture as it becomes thinner and drier.
- The thickness of the skin decreases 10% every 10 years.
- Sun causes 90-95% of wrinkles, lines and discoloration – – this is why using SPF is crucial.
- The first signs of aging occur around the eyes, neck and hands (in addition to applying SPF as mentioned above, I also recommend using a hat and sunglasses outdoors)
Next, let’s discuss what is actually hiding IN your everyday beauty products. I like to preface this discussion by saying, in the United States, the FDA is responsible for regulating what is allowed to be contained in the everyday products we consume. Sadly, the FDA currently only bans about a dozen (12) harmful ingredients from being allowed to be sold in our personal care products. In comparison, the European Union (EU) bans over 1,400 harmful ingredients and toxins, and the lux skincare line I referenced earlier in this post, takes it a step farther and bans over 2,000! What products would you choose to put on your body?
Here are just a few examples of the harmful ingredients lurking in the personal care products sold on shelves and in stores all around the US:
- Parabens – Parabens are chemicals with estrogen like properties that have been found in 99% of breast CA cells. Also considered hormone disrupters. Parabens are preservatives that appear towards the end of most product ingredients lists, as a suffix. The most commonly used parabens in cosmetics are: methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben. Check your labels! Seriously, go do it! (This includes shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, body lotion, make-up & skincare products!)
- Mineral Oil – This one got me. Mineral oil doesn’t sound so bad, does it? I mean, I thought minerals were a good thing? Wrong! This is a fancy way to say petroleum, or gasoline. Mineral oil is a by-product of petroleum, or crude oil. Oil companies dispose of mineral oil cheaply by pawning it off (selling to) the cosmetics industry, who use it as a “bulking” agent. It’s like putting Saran wrap on your skin, which prevents your body’s largest organ (skin) from doing its job: breathing and detoxifying. Mineral oil is the No. 1 cause of aging skin (after the sun, which is second to smoking, so this is your PSA to quit smoking and wear your SPF!) Using products that contain mineral oil, is like putting gasoline directly onto your skin, and we already know that your skin is your largest organ and second largest detoxifying organ, and what you put on your skin is absorbed directly into your bloodstream within 26 seconds. Therefore, what we put on it each day does matter! Who wants to put gasoline directly into their bloodstream? Scary, huh? Made me think twice too and really examine what is in ALL of my products.
After understanding what exactly is in the everyday beauty products we consume, I was on a mission to find CLEAN beauty products, that contained CLEAN ingredients, but that were just as effective as professional grade salon products. So, when my esthetician bestie introduced me to the phenomenal Arbonne skincare line, it was a no-brainer, because the product ingredient policy was in total alignment with what I was searching for!
A few more things for you to know:
- pH correct vs. pH balanced. The pH scale runs from 0–14. A pH of 7 is in the middle and considered “neutral”. A pH of less than 7 is considered acidic, and a pH of more than 7 is alkaline. A pH balanced product is usually between 3.8 and 4.2. A pH correct formulation is designed to preserve the skin’s acid mantle, a vital layer, protecting against pollutants and toxins. With pH correct formulations, chronic dry, oily, or acne-prone skin often clears up overnight. You guessed it, Arbonne’s products are pH correct!
- Dermatologist “tested” vs. dermatologist “recommended”. Dermatologist “Recommended” means someone was paid to say something good about a product. Dermatologist “tested” means there’s an actual test, so it’s a legitimate evidence-based endorsement. Arbonne is dermatologist, pediatrician and ophthalmologist tested.
- Strictly hypoallergenic. Meaning the product tests to zero allergic reaction. Yep, if you guessed the Arbonne skincare line checks this box too, you are correct!
Now, with all of the “fun facts” out of the way, let’s dive into my Super Simple (condensed) daily skincare routine for busy moms!
Pre-cleanse: Remove all eye make-up using this hidden gem and little known secret used by industry professionals. I love it because it is formulated specifically for sensitive skin around the eyes, and removes all traces of eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara while hydrating and soothing this delicate area. Not to mention, it leaves lashes feeling smooth and unbelievably soft. (Hypoallergenic, ophthalmologist- and dermatologist-tested).

Step 1: Cleanse your face twice a day.
Yep, I said it, you should be washing your face 2x a day! (Morning and night). Cleansing is the foundation of any skincare routine. It helps remove dirt, oil, and impurities that can clog your pores and lead to breakouts. Choose a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type—whether it’s oily, dry, or sensitive.
I like to alternate the cleansers I use based on my skin’s specific needs, to maximize their effectiveness. Here is my favorite “go to” daily cleanser that I use regularly if my skin does not require any special care.
The following a is list of cleansers I recommend depending on your skin’s specific needs:
- For sensitive skin
- For dry skin
- For acne prone skin or during breakouts
- For aging skin >40 yrs. To reduce fine lines & wrinkles
To cleanse, wash your face with lukewarm water and gently massage the cleanser onto your skin using circular motions. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a clean towel.
*PRO TIP: cleanse your face using a white washcloth, this allows you to see the “dirt” coming off your face. Also, you want to make sure to cleanse 2x using the white washcloth. The first wash simply removes your makeup and surface level dirt. Thoroughly rinse your washcloth off and cleanse again. The second cleanse will remove deeper debris from your pores and actually clean your face.
Step 2: Tone your skin
I personally love this step, it’s the easiest and my favorite step. The cool, light mist feels so refreshing! This step is crucial because it helps rebalance the pH level of your skin. After cleansing, your skin’s natural pH balance may be disrupted, and toner can help restore it. A balanced pH level is essential for healthy skin. Click here to check out my favorite toner.
Step 3: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.
Moisturizing is crucial for maintaining hydrated and healthy skin. After cleansing and toning, apply a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer to your face and neck. Look for products that are non-comedogenic, meaning they won’t clog your pores. Massage the moisturizer into your skin using upward strokes until it’s fully absorbed. Remember to moisturize both morning and night to keep your skin supple and nourished.
- Note: Don’t forget the sunscreen! Daytime moisturizers should contain SPF. Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is essential, even on cloudy days. Believe it or not, The SUN is the leading cause of fine lines and wrinkles, second to smoking, followed by mineral oil.
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to shield your skin from UVA and UVB rays. Opt for a lightweight, non-greasy formula that won’t feel heavy on your skin. Make it a habit to apply sunscreen as the final step of your morning skincare routine and reapply every two hours if you’re spending time outdoors.
If you’re looking to streamline your routine even further, consider using a multipurpose product that combines several benefits. For example, a tinted moisturizer with SPF can serve as a moisturizer, sunscreen, and light foundation in one. This way, you can save time and simplify your morning routine. Besides, sometimes I find that if I add a separate moisturizer with SPF and then add my foundation on top of that, my skin starts to sweat, and I constantly find myself blotting my face and wiping it all off unintentionally.
- Here are my favorite CLEAN tinted moisturizer , CC cream with SPF, and foundation with SPF
For nighttime moisturizing, Skip the SPF and just use a regular nighttime moisturizer. I love this incredible GLOW cream and typically alternate it with this incredible antiaging night cream or this ultra hydrating booster. Remember to use coupon code Arbonne10 for 10% off your order!

- Stay hydrated and get enough sleep!
Stay Hydrated!
While not directly part of your skincare routine, staying hydrated and getting enough sleep are essential for maintaining healthy skin. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from within. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night, as it allows your skin to repair and regenerate. Incorporating these habits into your lifestyle will contribute to the overall health and appearance of your skin.
Here’s another little secret that I’ll let you in on, what you eat (and drink) is directly related to the appearance of your skin. If your skin’s appearance is “unhealthy” (dry, red, irritated, blotchy, bumpy, rough, flakey, scaly, broken out, acne-prone, or dull) consider your diet and what you eat. Do you consume a lot of processed foods, sugar, or irritants like alcohol or caffeine? (Note: coffee, soda, and juice contain tons of hidden sugar). Often times, our outside appearance is a direct reflection of what is happening internally. We need to learn to listen to our bodies’ subtle clues and intuitively read our skin. For example, if your skin is dry, then hydrate (and moisturize extra). If you want clearer skin, try cleaning up your diet, by swapping out processed and sugary foods with fresh fruits, veggies and nuts. This alone can be very transformative for your skin. Cutting out gluten and dairy temporarily can also help decrease red flare-ups and acne breakouts. Finally, I highly recommend combining this amazing Probiotic with “cleaner” eating and using clean skincare (and make-up) products for the ultimate secret to clear and healthy skin!
Continue reading below for “the ultimate in-home facial” – – my non-negotiable (at least once a week) COMPLETE nightly skincare routine, usually weekends when I have extra time to devote to spoiling and pampering myself.

- Step 1: Cleanse – 2x using clean white washcloth and this fantastic cleansing balm, to remove surface dirt and make-up without stripping or drying, leaving skin soft and supple.
- Step 2: Scrub (exfoliate) – using my all-time favorite exfoliator, apply to moist skin using circular motions on forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. This helps to sluff off and remove dead skin cells. Leave on 3-5 min. rinse w/ cool water and pat dry with towel.
- Step 3: Mask – depending on what my skin needs, I pick one of these masks: Intense hydration mask orcellular renewal mask with fruit, apply evenly over face and leave on for 20 min. then rise with warm water.
- Step 4: Tone – Just a few spritzes of this epic toner helps rebalance skin back to proper pH, which helps your moisturizer work more effectively.
- Step 5: (optional) Intelligence Nightly resurfacing pads Sweeping the pad over clean, dry skin in upward motions helps reduce the look of dark spots, fine lines, and refines pores and evens skin tone. It is clinically proven to improve skin moisture, elasticity and firmness in just 2 weeks.
- Step 6: Intensive Renewal Serum – using this special serum increases cell turnover rate and contains a powerful blend of clinically proven, collagen-supporting ingredients (much more powerful to use a product that stimulates your own collagen production, vs. a product that only adds collagen to your skin)
- Step 7: Eye cream – You might be asking yourself, “why do I need an eye cream? Why can’t I just apply my regular moisturizer there? The skin around your eyes is tissue paper thin and requires a different formulation. This exclusive blend supports collagen, reduces puffiness and diminishes dark circles. Gently apply it around the eyes, using the tip of your ring finger. Use your orbital bone as a guide. Avoid getting the product too close to your eyes (or it will sting), the heat from your skin will draw the cream closer in.
- Step 8: Moisturize – apply night cream to face and neck. Our skin is able to repair more efficiently while we sleep. The older we get, the more our skin loses the ability to hold moisture. Nighttime cream should be corrective, helping to repair cell damage while nourishing and hydrating the skin.
- Step 9: Neck cream (optional) As mentioned earlier in this post, one of the first places we visibly show signs of aging is our neck, so this is a step I never miss! I like to call it facelift in a bottle! It firms, tightens and lifts the skin.
Maintaining a skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. By following this super simple skincare routine, you can keep your skin healthy and glowing without sacrificing too much of your precious time. Remember to always cleanse, moisturize, and protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. And don’t forget the importance of hydration and sleep!
